Juice Foods that Create Warmth

Winter is the season of hibernation so we need to juice foods that create warmth and support the kidneys like sweet potatoes, garlic and onions. Bitter foods like celery and beetroot are also good to strengthen the heart during the cold month of winter.Broccoli, cauliflower, grapefruit, radish and ginger can all help with the winter feeling of stagnation. In winter nature provides us with all the citrus fruits, high in Vitamin C which is important for venting colds and flu’s. It’s also a good idea to drink hot broth made from veggie soup as part of any winter juicing program.

You may not feel like juicing during winter but it is the perfect tonic to lift your spirit from the winter blues. To alleviate the winter depression juice more orange and yellow foods as the phytonutrients target the brain to uplift your mood.


Many people also find it hard to drink water during winter so having a fresh made juice is a great way to stay hydrated, especially when you are stuck indoors with the heaters on. Here are some Winter Juice Recipes for you to enjoy!


Clockwork Orange

1 sweet potato

2 red apples

1 orange

2 carrots

4 stalks celery

3 in (7.5 cm) piece of turmeric

Thermal Tonic

8 radishes

½ beetroot

10 carrots

2 zucchini

1 lemon

1 knob ginger

Veggie Broth Juice

2 leeks chopped

4 celery chopped

2 garlic cloves minced

2 tbsp olive oil

2 golden beets chopped

2 sprigs of thyme

1 turmeric knob sliced

1 ginger knob sliced

4 litres water


Method: Put all ingredients in a large pot and bring to boil. Simmer on low heat for 45-60 mins. Separate broth (juice) from vegetables/herbs through a strainer. Discard vegetables/herbs and drink broth only.Add salt if required.

1/4 pineapple

1 orange

1 slice lemon

1 piece turmeric

1 teaspoon of honey


OTC

2 oranges

1 knob turmeric

1 cayenne pepper (red chilli)
